Good morning Wendy!  I hope you're enjoying this beautiful day.

You are receiving this message because you are on my newsletter list...let me know if you want off!

On the 10th of the month, The Way of Truth newsletter arrives!

My fellow life coach in town, Chellee Chase and I team up on a lot of fun circles, classes, workshops, and performances (live and virtual), and we like to share the news with you!  This one is Wendy's Birthday Edition.  We hope you enjoy!

Last week was the 4th of July, and we had an awesome radio theatre party with Paul Revere, and Lydia Darrah, Patriot… and since my birthday is always the week after the 4th, I’d thought I’d keep the party going and bring you some of my very favorite community theatre memories and performances… with the help of some very special friends.

Sun 7/11 SCCT Radio Hour S1 E11: Happy Birthday Wendy!  Join our hostess and her special guests as they bring to life theatre gems and jingles highlighting a life-long love affair with the performing arts. Featuring Doug Abbott, Zeyah Pearson, Hallie Harris, Jim and Phyllis McQuaide, Billy Dominguez and Sarah Thrasher.

Catch up on past episodes of SCCT Radio Hour Here!

If we haven’t met yet, my name is Wendy Spurgeon.  I was born July 11th, 1970, which makes me…..51?  It’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve had a life-long love affair with the performing arts, and I am passionate about community theatre, so in tomorrow’s birthday episode I’ll share some of my favorite community theatre gems. Tune in tomorrow, Sunday 7/11 @ 4pm MST on KURU 89.1 FM, or online at www.gmcr.org.

Right before that at 3:00pm MST, you might catch me teaching a workshop in the park!

See Press Release Below:

Join Silver City Community Theatre for a theatre workshop and the launch of a Youth Theatre Project for people ages 13 to 18.

Meet on Sunday July 11th at 3pm in Gough Park. We'll meet in or near the Gazebo. This workshop will be one of a series held on Sundays with the goal of producing a play that includes all members of the group.

The SCCT Youth Project's goal is to empower young people with the ability to express themselves through theatre and public presentation. This is a free program.

Anyone interested in any aspect of theatre is welcome. They are also seeking one or two adult volunteers to help with the project.

Brenda McFarlane and Wendy Spurgeon will lead the group in developing the project.
They are thrilled at the opportunity to work together and share their theatre knowledge with Grant County teenagers.

Wendy Spurgeon is a drama teacher with Aldo Leopold Charter School, and Hostess of SCCT Radio Hour on KURU 89.1 FM. As a founding teacher at the Oregon Conservatory of Performing Arts, StageCoach Theatre School, and Portland Playback Theatre, she specializes in producing workshops, ensemble performances, and events that develop confident and compassionate young actors for life.

The day will start with an acting warm up and games and then will focus on the creation of a project. It will last no more than 2 hours. Please arrive on time, bring a chair if possible and wear comfortable clothes.
