Global Humans

Last year on International Women's Day there were 2 big events going on locally. At noon, I was hosting a Community Lunch event with samples of International cuisine, music, and interesting speakers to raise awareness and funds for the work and women of El Refugio (our domestic violence shelter).  Later that evening, a large circle of women gathered for songs, sharing, and intention-setting on the New Moon.  After that meeting, I took the mantle of organizing monthly New Moon Sister Circles and eventually settled into the regular rhythm of meeting over teleconference line...it has greatly enhanced my own spiritual practice, and has connected us energetically with Sisters all over the planet!

This year on International Women's Day (March 8th) I just didn't have the wherewithal to plan a big local event just days after closing my role as Miss Blacklock in Silver City Community Theatre's production of Agatha Christie's, "A Murder is Announced".  But tomorrow 3/11, is Silver City United Church of Christ's monthly Community Agape Meal and Event, so I thought why not celebrate then?  So I'm making West African Peanut Soup, Mexican Corn Salad, Rumpledethumps (British Isles dish), Borscht and Peasant Bread for an International Feast!  After that we will form a Sister Circle, surrounded by our Sacred Brothers in a Circle of Protection, for a Unify Heart Meditation and Visualization on the theme:  Empathy is My Superpower.  It just feels really right to include the Sacred Masculine with the Sacred Feminine in this way.

You may, or may not know, but I have 2 beautiful grown sons.  One of them was born female and has transitioned male in the past few years.  My first response when he came out to me was absolute acceptance.  I hadn't expected this announcement, but I had known that my beautiful child would be coming out to me in some way for some time and I unconditionally love my child regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identification.  Love is love. Period.

That is not to say that I didn't go through a period of personal mourning and self-doubt.  The little girl I thought I knew was no longer with us, but my new son contained all of her brilliance and compassion but with a new confidence, clarity, and joy for life.  It took time for me to remember to use his new pronouns and name, but he was very patient with me and our relationship has deepened and flourished.  A few years later, my ex-husband (father of my sons), came out and started to transition female.  In some ways this was no surprise to me, again my acceptance was immediate, and I had some processing and forgiveness work ahead of me.

I feel really blessed that I had unknowingly prepared myself for these transitions by doing my own transformational work and certifying as an Integrative Coach.  When I needed support, I had a network of fellow coaches and a wealth of processes and exercises for these deep dives into new levels of truth and acceptance.  My experience with these transitions has made me a valuable ally in the lgbtq community, and the "just right" coach for many of their parents and allies.

The world is changing, we are experiencing a new paradigm, and that is a frightening experience for many people.  The Sacred Feminine is HERE, and she is roaring.  Me too. Times up.  There is still so much work to be done towards unity, AND we must not leave our Sacred Brothers behind and lump them in with Patriarchy inappropriately.  The following article is written by one of the founders of the Global Sisterhood movement, and I am proud to be a part of it through offering monthly New Moon Tele-circles. The work is so important, AND reuniting in healthy balance with the Sacred Masculine is the larger goal I see.

Perhaps the next step in my Spiritual Leadership path is to also offer a Full Moon Noble Spirits Tele-Circle that welcomes all genders, in honor and recognition of our Creator, transcending beyond the necessity of gender, our Holy Mother/Father/Sister/Brother.  If it be in the Highest Good for All, May it Be So.

The Comparison Trap, by Lauren Elizabeth Walsh

You know as well as I do that being a woman isn’t easy. Far from it. Growing up, we’re not socialized or taught to understand our true worth as young girls, let alone future female leaders.

If you judge yourself in the mirror, have a lack of patience with yourself, or compare yourself to other women, you, too, have been impacted by this epidemic in our world.

It’s not your fault.

As we grow into our adolescence, we’re often told (or it’s implied) that we’ll only be valued and loved if we excel in one or more areas:

Am I pretty?
Am I smart?
Am I helpful?
Am I talented?
Am I kind?
Am I attractive?

For generations, women learned to survive by attracting a husband. Depending on the culture, women were encouraged to learn how to put a big check mark next to all of those above six areas in order to accomplish that very goal – attract a husband. The power was always in the hands of men, and we were taught to let them have it.

The bigger problem, though, was that we not only needed to be considered pretty, smart, helpful, talented, kind, and attractive, we needed to excel above all other women. We needed to stand out – or we wouldn’t reach that goal that had been set for us.

We had to be noticed, and more importantly... chosen.

Enter: the necessity for competition.

It probably felt like (and literally could have been) a matter of survival.

We women learned to compare by judging ourselves and other women, we learned to manipulate our bodies and personalities to become more "desirable," and we learned to gossip, slander, exclude, or sabotage where deemed necessary.

This is how the unspoken dynamics between women took root in our consciousness. They have been passed down, generation to generation.

And it’s likely your upbringing and social experiences convinced you that you are not good enough.

The Global Sisterhood is here to tell you that this is the greatest illusion of your life. And it doesn't have to remain anywhere inside of you. We’re here to help lift the veil and reveal your true beauty. First to you, and then to others.

Chances are you’ve been hurt by other women comparing themselves to you, competing with you, judging you, or excluding you. Perhaps you’re still carrying that pain, even if you haven’t realized it.

We’re here to change this pattern between women… and we’re so happy you’re joining us.

Healing the shadow dynamics between women takes effort. It takes humility, honesty, self-accountability, and vulnerability. It requires that we have the courage and tools to speak our FULL truth without blaming or making others feel like they’re wrong.

It takes willingness to FORGIVE and have compassion for ourselves and other women who are still caught in the competition trap.

It takes Sisterhood.

Through Sisterhood, we can heal these wounds and discover our true worth and power as women. Imagine a world where every woman truly felt comfortable and beautiful in her own skin? Her own body? Her own personality? Her own mind? Her own heart?

We can transform this planet. In fact, it’s already happening.

Sisters are uniting and rising together all over the world, and sacred Sister Circles are the magical vehicles that support this.

If you haven't already found or created a Circle,  you can register for the next Global Sisterhood New Moon Tele-circle on Sat. March 17th by Clicking Here.

Thank you for being here, Sister.

We honor the journey you’ve been on, the journey you’re going on, and we’re here to help you grow into the next phase of who you are becoming.

We’ve got you.

With deep respect and deeper love,
Lauren and the Global Sisterhood Team

COOL RESOURCE - Guided Body Scan Audio

We can detect subtle changes in our own bodies, by performing our own energy scan on a regular basis.
As the living vehicles for our spirits, our bodies deserve loving attention and care. We can positively affect our health, prevent illness, and heal injuries by regularly focusing our mental and spiritual energy on the workings of our bodies. This can be done by performing a body scan on yourself.

Begin by lying in a comfortable position and taking three deep cleansing breaths. Imagine, if you will, a sunbeam entering the top of your head. Feel this light slowly scanning each part of your internal body. Allow it to scan every cell in your body and keep breathing. Every time you exhale, blow out negative energy you may feel. Notice any changes in your body. Sensations may vary from person to person. You may feel a shift in body temperature, see a color or flash of light, or hear a voice offering you guidance. If you feel a block in a certain area of your body, sit with that block and feel into it. Ask your body why that block is there and what you need to do to release it. Try not to judge or analyze the wisdom that comes to you. Often, we experience energy blocks in our body because our body is trying to tell us something. You may want to breathe into that area until you feel the block dissolving. When you have finished your scan, take one last deep breath and exhale any energetic residue that you are ready to release.

The body doesn't lie, and it has much wisdom to share with us. Any injuries or blocks that exist in our bodies are there so that we can learn from having them in our bodies. An existing injury can teach us to slow down or help us recognize that something is out of balance in our bodies. The more you scan your body, the better you will become at it. If you sense that something is not right in your body, you may want to visit a doctor and tell them about your experience. When you have finished your scan, don't forget to thank your wonderful, amazing body.

Enjoy this 20 minute Guided Body Scan Meditation Audio as my gift to you!
